As a UFCW member there are many ways you can get involved in your workplace and your union. Getting involved enables you to join with your co-workers and create change for you, as well as your co-workers, customers, and community.

Attend a Meeting

UFCW Local Unions hold regular membership meetings. If you are new to the union or have been a member for a while and are looking for ways to get more involved, attending a meeting is a great way to meet other UFCW members in your area and get to know your local union leadership. To find out when the next meeting in your area is, check your local union website or give your local union office a call.

Advocate for Worker-Friendly Laws

UFCW members have the ability to talk with their elected representatives about legislative and regulatory issues that will improve their lives every day. When we unite our voices, we make government work better for working people. We demand that elected representatives support working people and hold politicians accountable at the state house, the governor’s mansion, Congress, and the ballot box. Learn more about our issues and take action here.

Get Out the Vote

All UFCW members are eligible to join the Active Ballot Club (ABC), the UFCW’s political action committee. The ABC is the engine that mobilizes UFCW members to advocate for the issues that make their lives better. From getting union members out to vote, to lobbying for worker-friendly legislation to supporting elected leaders who will represent the interests of working people–every dollar helps to ensure that the laws passed at all levels of government helphard-working families enjoy more economic stability.

For more information about how you can get involved with the ABC, contact your local union office.

Engage in Community Service

The UFCW difference extends beyond the workplace. As America’s food union, the UFCW has worked with a diverse coalition of partners to address the food crisis in our communities. We serve as a national sponsor of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive, which is America’s largest single-day food drive, collecting more than 80 million pounds of food each year. Contact your local union to see how you can help.
