Workers will also receive two additional weeks of paid leave if they become sick.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery supermarket, grocery store, and food retail employer \u2013 union and non-union \u2013 in the Northeast and across America must follow the example that Stop &amp; Shop has set and follow their lead,&#8221; said UFCW International President Marc Perrone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UFCW International and UFCW Locals have been negotiating with employers across the country to recognize how hard grocery workers are working to provide necessary food and supplies to their communities during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UFCW and Safeway&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw.org\/2020\/03\/20\/coronavirussafeway\/\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;that Safeway would provide a two-dollar-per-hour increase in pay for its grocery workers across the country during the outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In California,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ufcw1167.org\/1167_Covid19_office_info.html\">UFCW<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ufcw135.com\/breaking-news\/vons-albertsons-stater-bros-ralphs-food-4-less-agree-to-bonus-pay\/\">Locals<\/a>&nbsp;applauded Stater Bros. Markets for implementing a $2.00-per-hour pay raise to its workers.
