Their election at this year\u2019s AFL-CIO convention means they will serve a full four year term in these leadership roles, after having previously been elected to fill the remainder of the late AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka\u2019s term last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"quote\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAFL-CIO President Liz Shuler and Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond have proven themselves to be fierce advocates for working families through their decades of service in the labor movement. In this incredibly energized moment in labor history, their vision and commitment to the fight is going to help us grow the movement and help build a stronger future for working people everywhere. <\/p><p>\u201cAfter two years of confronting a global pandemic, there has never been a more important time for essential workers.
