The contract also includes improvements to scheduling, and new and improved pandemic and earned sick and safe time language. In addition, the contract includes health and safety measures to protect our members, including safety trainings and meetings, and protective equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe union committee did an incredible job sticking together to fight back against many proposed takeaways from their employer,\u201d said UFCW Local 1189 President Jim Gleb.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have even had the opportunity to win this long and hard-fought battle for better wages and benefits without our union,\u201d said one of the members.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About 600 members of UFCW Local 1189 who work at five Lunds &amp; Byerlys supermarket stores in the St. Paul, Minn., metro area recently ratified a new contract that raises wages and improves benefits.
