Daily\u2019s Premium Meats is a bacon processing plant, and these workers produce sliced prepackaged bacon. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UFCW Local 2 organizers have been meeting with workers at the Daily\u2019s Premium Meats plant in St. Joseph since the plant opened in 2017. These workers joined our union family because they wanted the better wages and benefits that their unionized colleagues have at the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/forlocals.ufcw.org\/2017\/11\/20\/local-222-seaboard-triumph-foods-workers-ratify-first-union-contract\/\">Seaboard Triumph Foods<\/a>&nbsp;plant in Sioux City, Iowa, who are members of UFCW Local 222, and the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/forlocals.ufcw.org\/2021\/09\/27\/local-2-pork-processing-workers-stand-together-for-a-better-contract\/\">Triumph Foods<\/a>&nbsp;plant in St. Joseph, Mo., who are members of UFCW Local 2. Daily\u2019s Premium Meats is owned by Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods, and the vote took place via card check on Nov. 18.A month later, on Dec. 4, these workers ratified their first union contract with UFCW Local 2.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three-year contract includes:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>A one-time ratification signing bonus of $500<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>A perfect attendance bonus built into the base rate and an additional $1.00 per hour<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>33 guaranteed hours of work<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>A grievance procedure<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>An earned time off program, with up to nine additional paid days off per year<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>Double time pay for work on Sunday<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>A 401(k) 6 percent match<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"list-item\">\n<li>Seniority rights<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA union will make a tremendous difference at our plant, with better wages, better benefits and a better workplace for our company,\u201d said Clinton Eldrege, who has worked for the Daily\u2019s Premium Meats plant in St. Joseph for five years.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over 300 workers at the Daily\u2019s Premium Meats plant in St. Joseph, Mo., joined UFCW Local 2 in November and ratified their first contract in December.
