{"id":54059,"date":"2024-04-03T18:09:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T18:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ufcw.org\/?post_type=press_releases&#038;p=54059"},"modified":"2024-04-03T18:09:04","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T18:09:04","slug":"ufcw-statement-on-osha-worker-representation-ruling","status":"publish","type":"press_releases","link":"https:\/\/www.ufcw.org\/press-releases\/ufcw-statement-on-osha-worker-representation-ruling\/","title":{"rendered":"UFCW Statement on OSHA Worker Representation Ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Today, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw.org\/about\/\"> <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufcw.org\/about\/\">United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW)<\/a>, which represents 1.2 million essential workers in grocery, meatpacking, food processing, retail, and other essential industries across North America, released the following statement in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration\u2019s (OSHA) final ruling confirming that employees have the right to authorize a qualified representative, such as a union representative, to accompany OSHA compliance officers during an inspection of their workplace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UFCW International President Marc Perrone released the following statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"quote\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"tw-max-w-217 tw-m-auto tw-px-6 rich-text contained-block\" data-module=\"paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOSHA\u2019s finalized ruling underscores what our members have known for years: workers deserve a voice on the job, especially when it comes to their safety and workplace inspections.
