On March 13, members of UFCW Local 876 who work at the H&M store in downtown Detroit ratified their first contract. These workers\u00a0joined our union\u00a0last July\u2014marking the first time H&M workers have unionized in Michigan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Key provisions of the three-year contract include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n
    \n
  • Guaranteed annual raises. Their previous system was merit-based only, with no guarantee of receiving raises.<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n
    \n
  • Guaranteed weekly hours.<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n
    \n
  • A new parking subsidy pilot program, where the company will provide members with up to $75.00 per week to cover their parking fees.<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n

    \u201cOur newest members at the downtown Detroit H&M have reached a significant milestone for any newly organized workplace: they have successfully ratified their first-ever contract,\u201d said UFCW Local 876 President Dan Pedersen<\/strong>. \u201cThe workers at H&M are the most important part of the equation\u2014they are the reason customers walk through the doors, ready to spend their hard-earned money. This contract recognizes that reality and provides them with the means to build better lives for themselves and their families.
