UFCW Local 186D<\/a> is advocating for its members in Modesto, Calif., who will be laid off by G-3 Enterprises, a subsidiary of E.&J. Gallo Winery, starting next month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\u201cWe are working to negotiate severance for our members and will be supporting them as they and our community navigate this difficult time,\u201d said UFCW Local 186D President Dee Chacon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The 45 members, who operated the machinery that makes the screw caps, will also receive help with resume writing, interview practice, job searches, and enrolling in training programs.

Cesar Lara of the California Federation of Labor Unions\u2019 Workforce and Economic Development department is providing additional support to G-3 Enterprises employees by organizing a job fair.

The layoffs are attributed to reduced demand for wine, rising operating costs, and increased competitive dynamics across the supply chain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
